The short version. If you send us an enquiry, we use your details to reply to it and to quote for the work. We do not sell them, we do not add you to a mailing list, and this website does not track you. Ask us to delete your details at any time and we will.
Who we are
W. Pocock & Sons Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described on this page. That means we decide what is collected and what happens to it.
- W. Pocock & Sons Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 04411971
- Registered office: 47 Long Lane, Tilehurst, Reading, Berkshire, RG31 6YN
- Telephone 07824 552389
- Or use the enquiry form on our website, which reaches the same people
What we collect, and why
Only what you choose to send us, plus the basic technical records any website keeps.
| What | Why we need it | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Name, phone number, email address, property address, type of enquiry and your description of the works — everything in the enquiry form | To reply to you, ask any follow-up questions, visit the property if needed, and prepare a quotation | Taking steps at your request before entering into a contract |
| Anything else you tell us afterwards by phone or email about the same job | To carry out the work and keep a record of what was agreed | Performance of our contract with you |
| Server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time | Kept automatically by our hosting provider to run the site and protect it from abuse | Our legitimate interest in a secure, working website |
We do not ask for anything sensitive, and please do not send us bank details, card numbers or copies of identity documents through the form.
Server logs and security
We make no attempt to identify individual visitors from these logs. The one exception is where we have reasonable grounds to suspect somebody is trying to gain unauthorised access to the site, in which case we may use the logs to investigate and to block them. The logs sit with our hosting provider and are not handed to anyone else.
Who else sees it
Your enquiry is read by the Pocock family and the people who need it to price or plan your job. Beyond that:
- Our hosting provider stores the website and its server logs.
- Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France) delivers the enquiry form to our inbox. They pass the message on; they do not use it for anything else, and we do not use them for marketing.
- Our email provider holds the message once it arrives, in the same way it holds any other email.
- Sub-contractors — electricians, plasterers, plumbers — receive your address and job details only where they are working on your project.
We do not sell your information, share it for advertising, or pass it to anyone else unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become jobs — up to 12 months, then deleted. People often come back to a quote a season later.
- Jobs we carried out — six years after completion, which is how long we may need the records for tax, warranty and liability purposes.
- Server logs — for the period our hosting provider retains them, typically a few weeks.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies. It has no analytics, no advertising pixels, no social media trackers and no embedded third-party content. Nothing is stored on your device and nothing follows you to other sites — which is why you are not being asked to accept anything.
The only external request the site makes is to Google Fonts, which serves the two typefaces used here. Your browser's IP address is visible to Google as part of that request, in the same way it would be for any file downloaded from another server.
If we ever add analytics or a map, we will update this page and add a proper cookie banner first.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it
- stop using it, or restrict what we do with it
- hand it over in a portable format
Ask by phone, by post, or through the enquiry form using the details above. It is free, and we will respond within one month. If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113 — though we would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

Changes to this page
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. This version applies from 30 August 2026.
